Breeding programs and objectives:
In general, Bar J has two breeding programs, which are listed below. However, our current focus is on developing the idea cow for South Texas through the maternal breeding program.
Maternal Breeding Program
Objective: To develop the most productive subtropical, maternal crossbreed without sacrificing significant carcass traits and eye appeal through the rotation of data-proven bulls within a heifer replacement program
Terminal Breeding Program
Objective: To use terminal AI bulls on selected mature cows to produce offspring for specific markets such as the feedlot or show steer
